         Architecture:

​

Born in Lisbon, Luisa Barahona (1989) obtained her bachelor's degree at the Faculdade de Arquitectura de Lisboa (Lisbon 2010) and her Master at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris La Villette (Paris 2013). She’s a member of the Portuguese order for architecture, since 2014.

​

In 2013 she finishes her studies in Paris and starts working at the Atelier Castro Denissof et Associés, in this studio she becomes project manager.

For 6 years in the Parisian studio, Luisa Barahona, had the occasion to cooperate with Suzana Lajic for several housing project. She had the opportunity to participate in quite a few wining competitions, develop several architecture projects from the concept until the construction and also coordinate multidisciplinary working teams.

Simultaneously to her work in the studio, Luisa Barahona had the occasion to work, also in personal architecture projects in Portugal and France.

Nowadays, while living between Paris and Lisbon, Luisa Barahona has the conviction that it’s important to reconnect European cultures trough architecture, among other areas.

​

In her point of view, a commitment of the architecture citizens is essential for the: enrichment of the material and immaterial patrimony, more dignified housing and cultural landscape throughout the world.

These concerns, of universal importance, should be taken into consideration and guaranteed to the society, because if we live in a controversial period of history, it’s essential to recentre our values in the dignity of constructed spaces, social solidarity and sustainable economy.

         Photography:

Photography has for a long time, passioned and accompanied Luisa Barahona.

​

The departure from her hometown Lisbon with 20 years old, the immigration communities to France, the social gaps inside and outside Europe, but also the memories of childhood and her family, are represented in her work.

​

For two years (2016-2018) Luisa Barahona, studied at the Centre Jean Verdier in Paris, with the photographer Bruno Dubreuil and in 2018/2019 she participated in the Imago factory also in Paris, with Oleñka Carrasco and  Bruno Dubreuil, about the forbidden and secret issues represented by photography and art in general.

​

It's in this period of time, that Luisa explores photography series and documentary photography, but also the analogue printing techniques, that she develops in her studio in Paris and soon in Lisbon.

​

Different intimate subjects are present in her photography, starting with emigration and connected with the concerns of the nomad generation, Luisa seeks with photography, the freedom of speech and one moment’s immortality.
