Urban problematics:
The building site is located, in the city of Vigneux-sur-Seine, most precisely in the ZAC* de la croix blanche.
In this place existed several social housing towers, these buildings were extremely deteriorated, the apartments no longer corresponded to the habitants needs, so the city suffered from the marginality in the neighborhood and lack of housing.
The transformation of this neighborhood, wanted to demolish all the towers, with the exception of one. This last tower should represent the memory, of the pre-existing skyline and be renewed.
For the regeneration of the neighborhood new axis would be created, squares and public gardens, among these new urban places there was the rue du parc avec smaller buildings and a new park.
*Zone d’aménagement concerté:
Sites selected by the French state for public interest and utility.

The project:
The site drawn by the Atelier Castro Denissof et Associés, is along the Rue du Parc. Its urban plan demanded two distinct buildings with 3 floors each.
The backyard, should offer a common garden and the buildings should be at the street limit.
The first building was quite long, this characteristic asked for an important volume and rupture work along the main façade. The Atelier, created balconies, loggias and transparent entrances for each hall access. This idea was possible when the office imagined 3 different building, in this single façade. The dark bricks make a big contrast with the whiteness of the coating and the golden guardrails.
The second building has almost a cube shape, it’s all covered with dark bricks except on the loggias. These exterior areas should provide light inside the apartments.

At the ground floor, the first building has 2 main entrances.
One long corridor accesses the backyard garden, and allows transients to observe the green through the transparency.
The typologies of the project correspond with the city’s necessities.
The Atelier CDA, proposed a mixture of simplex and duplex apartments. This variety helped drawing double heights on the façades.
The diversity of housing, should help create the belonging feeling for its habitants, that was missing.
The Atelier Castro Denissof et Associés, truly hopes that this project, could contribute to a positive transformation of the neighborhood.
